Bob Johnson Named as GM of New Orleans Convention Center
|
| It's that time of year again, so mark your calendar for ESCA's 2007 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas on Sunday, December 9. The reception and dinner will be held at Cili Restaurant just down the Las Vegas Strip from Mandalay Bay in the Bali Hai Golf Club. Shuttle busses will begin running from Mandalay Bay at 5:45pm, and registration opens at 6:00pm. The reception will begin at 6:30pm, so don't be late. Seating is limited (so what's new), and we are expecting another record breaking crowd based on attendance in San Diego and Stowe. We encourage you to follow the link below to register for the Annual Meeting and to make your hotel reservations at Mandalay Bay or The Hotel. As in the past, our room block is with IAEE so you know rooms will be going quickly. We have blocked a limited number of tee times for our members at Bali Hai Golf Club on Saturday, 12/8 and Sunday, 12/9. If you would like to reserve one, please contact Mitt Arnaudet at mitt@esca.org as soon as possible as we will need to release those not reserved one week prior. We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas! |
San Diego Convention Center Restricts Contractors
The San Diego Convention Center recently implemented a policy that forces contractors to subcontract cleaning services to SDCC or not provide them at all. The new policy stipulates that all cleaning services will either be subcontracted to SDCC or they will provide the service directly to exhibitors, bypassing the event's general service contractor. This policy revision is in direct conflict with the ESCA Position Statement on In-House Services & Exclusives. |
Passport Waiver Ends at End of September The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reminding air carriers and the traveling public that the temporary Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) accommodation allowing U.S. citizens to travel by air within the Western Hemisphere using a Department of State (DOS) official proof of passport application receipt will end as scheduled at midnight on Sept. 30, 2007. U.S. citizens who departed the country under this travel accommodation prior to Oct. 1 with a Department of State official proof of passport application receipt and government-issued identification will be readmitted with these same documents if returning to the United States after Sept. 30. |
