Frank Poe Named Dean For IAAM Academy For Venue Safety & Security Frank Poe, director of the Dallas (TX) Convention Center, has been appointed as dean for the Academy for Venue Safety & Security. Poe has served for over 27 years in various positions in venue management in Dallas, Orlando, and Birmingham and has played an active role in many industry associations. Poe served as president of IAAM in 2000-2001, chair of the IAAM Safety and Security Task Force from 2001-2004, Chair of the IAAM Life Safety Council from 2005-2007, and currently serves as Chair of the Public Assembly Sub-Sector Council - Commercial Sectors Council, which is supported by the Department of Homeland Security. He is a founding member of the IAAM Academy for Venue Safety & Security Advisory Board. |
Chicago Launches "The Chicago Commitment" In an effort to place a greater emphasis on providing customer service on the show floor, Chicago's McCormick Place has recently announced a new program that outlines 6 key services that tradesmen will strive to deliver to exhibitors during their work day. "The Chicago Commitment" was developed through the efforts of the Labor Management Council representing the major stakeholders involved in the tradeshow industry in Chicago. This group includes the trades, general service contractors, EACs and show managers in addition to the Chicago Convention Bureau and McCormick Place. The campaign will continue during the months ahead to posting signage during check-in to serve as reminders of the program. In addition, a subcommittee of the Labor Management Council will be developing other communication tools to further support and reinforce the overall message. |

USOC Considers HQ Move to Chicago Crain's) - Chicago is aiming to win another kind of Olympic gold - the headquarters of the U.S. Olympic Committee. On the heels of its efforts to lure the 2016 Summer games here, the Daley administration has opened talks with the USOC about moving its headquarters here from Colorado Springs, Colo., where the committee has been based since 1978, according to sources familiar with the talks. |
