2007 ESCA Annual Meeting

Attendance has already eclipsed the century mark for this year's Annual Meeting and with two weeks left we are once again looking forward to a record attendance!  Don't wait any longer to register as seating is limited and we would hate for you to miss out.

 

The reception and dinner will be held Sunday evening, 12/9 at Cili Restaurant in the Bali Hai Golf Club, just down Las Vegas Boulevard from Mandalay Bay.  Shuttle busses will start running from the Shark's Reef entrance of the Mandalay Bay CC at 5:45pm.  Registration opens at 6pm, the reception starts at 6:30pm and dinner will be served at 7:30pm.

 

Blackstone $20 Billion Hilton Deal Concluded
The Blackstone Group will pay $20 billion in cash for Hilton Hotels Corp., at $47.5 a share. The deal was announced last week. With the merger, Hilton's common stock stopped to trade on New York Stock Exchange.

Speaking to Forbes.com, Citigroup analyst Joshua Attie said that he believes the sale price if Hilton is a good sign for Marriott, Hilton's main competitor.
 
First New Hotel Project Since Katrina Slated for "Crescent City"
NEW ORLEANS, LA - Construction on the first new hotel project in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina will begin early next year in the French Quarter.

The long-vacant Astor Hotel will be converted into a condominium hotel by Royal Cosmopolitan LLC, headed by developers Angelo Farrell and Lee Laporte.

EDPA Issues Statement on Illegal Bundling of Services

In an open letter to the industry, the Exhibit Designers & Producers Association has released a position statement implying that general service contractors illegally discount exclusive services in packaging proposals to clients.  Follow the links below to review EDPA's release and ESCA's responses.

The U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) that is now available for use.  All employers are required to complete a Form I-9 for each employee hired in the United States.

Do You Know Your ESCA Log-In? 
Do you know your ESCA website log-in?  Your log-in will allow you to access the ESCA By-Laws, Career Center, Resource Center and the Members Only sections on our website.  
You can also use it when paying membership dues and registering for Annual Business Meetings, the Summer Educational Conferences and all other upcoming ESCA events and educational programs.  In the future you will need your log-in information to get "membership rates" when registering for all ESCA Meetings and Conferences.
